I'm Merhan Hesham, A software engineer with a story that's not just about technology, but about ambition, discovery, and a journey that's led me here today.
Growing up with a fascination for problem-solving, my path took a pivotal turn when I moved to a STEM boarding school, thanks to a scholarship from USAID. It was more than an education; it was a transformative experience that immersed me in the world of technology and innovation. Here, I didn't just learn about tech; I lived it, leading projects that tackled some of Egypt's most significant challenges. Each semester, each capstone project, was a step closer to realizing my passion for making an impact through technology.
But the journey didn't stop there. In my junior year, I got accepted into the TechGirls exchange program. It's designed to empower and inspire young women from the United States, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa to pursue careers in STEM and Tech. It was a milestone that opened my eyes to the vast possibilities in the tech field. At Virginia Tech University, I delved into CS and cybersecurity, areas that were new and exhilarating to me.
As part of program follow-on, the TechGirls implement at least one peer training program or service project within their schools and/or communities, and i got featured on the techgirls Website for implementing my follow on project, sharing my experience in the program and inspiring young women to pursue career in tech.
